Stuck in your head

When most folks ask me if Emma Kate watches something like The Wiggles or Sesame Street, I say 'yeah, but her main show is one you've probably never heard of.' And my assertion is typically right because, well, few folks have heard of a random Australian-based kids show called Hi-5 ... and that's probably a good thing.

It all started when she was still getting a bottle of milk in the morning, and I was searching for something kid-friendly to watch on TV as "Golf Central" just didn't hold her attention. The Discovery Channel used to - used to - show a collection of obscure Canadian and Australian shows in the morning, and that's how we uncovered Hi-5. Well, in its divine wisdom, the powers-that-be at The Discovery Channel opted to replace all of their children's programming with more house-flipping shows at 6:30 a.m.

Thinking we had lost Hi-5 forever, Julie and I stumbled upon the wonders of Charter OnDemand. So now, every afternoon, I'm subjected to roughly two straight hours of kiddie pop music that absolutely transfixes my daughter ...

What you can't see is the banana mashed to her chin.
